Concrete Projects Across London, Ontario

After 950+ jobs, most concrete projects around London fall into a handful of familiar shapes. This page lays out the typical project scopes Concrete Surface Solutions takes on, from two-car driveways and pool decks to warehouse floors and walkway lifts.

Each card below is a typical scope, not a single job: the kind of property, the usual size range, the finish, the mix we order and how many days a crew is on site. Use it to picture your own project and to compare quotes with real numbers. With more than 20 years in the trade, we can also point you to finished work near your street when you ask.

Residential

Driveways and Decorative Concrete

Residential driveways and decorative flatwork are the most common projects on our calendar. The typical scopes below show what each one involves, so you can see how size, finish and site conditions shape the schedule and the price.

Days on site cover excavation through finishing. Every exterior slab then needs about 7 days of curing before cars drive on it.

Stamped concrete pool deck project in London backyard

Stamped pool deck and surround

  • Setting: backyard inground pool
  • Size: 400 to 900 sq ft
  • Finish: random stone stamp, colour hardener
  • Mix: C-2, 32 MPa, 5 to 8% air, fibre
  • On site: 4 to 6 days

Sloped away from the pool edge at about 2% and sealed with a slip-resistant additive. Typical range $14 to $24 per sq ft. See our concrete patio and pool deck service.

Two-car driveway replacement

  • Setting: 1970s to 1990s subdivision
  • Size: 500 to 700 sq ft
  • Finish: broom, saw-cut joints
  • Mix: C-2, 32 MPa, 5 to 8% air
  • On site: 3 to 4 days

Old asphalt or cracked concrete removed, soft clay dug out and replaced with compacted Granular A. Typical range $12 to $16 per sq ft. Details on our concrete driveway installation page.

Exposed aggregate driveway and walk

  • Setting: newer two-storey home
  • Size: 600 to 1,000 sq ft
  • Finish: exposed river rock, sealed
  • Mix: C-2, 32 MPa, 5 to 8% air, decorative aggregate
  • On site: 4 to 5 days

A curved walkway to the porch is poured with the driveway so the stone matches. Typical range $16 to $21 per sq ft. Compare finishes on our exposed aggregate concrete page.

Front steps and walkway

  • Setting: older brick back-split or bungalow
  • Size: 3 to 5 risers plus 20 to 40 ft of walk
  • Finish: broom with tooled edges
  • Mix: C-2, 32 MPa, 5 to 8% air, rebar
  • On site: 2 to 4 days

Footings go below the 1.2 m frost line so the steps do not heave away from the house. Typical range $650 to $1,000 per step. More on our concrete steps, walkways and porches page.

Stamped patio with border

  • Setting: rear yard off a walkout
  • Size: 250 to 500 sq ft
  • Finish: ashlar slate stamp, contrasting border
  • Mix: C-2, 32 MPa, 5 to 8% air, fibre
  • On site: 3 to 4 days

Release agent and colour are chosen from samples at the estimate. Typical range $18 to $26 per sq ft. Patterns and upkeep are covered on our stamped concrete page.

Garage floor replacement

  • Setting: attached single or double garage
  • Size: 250 to 600 sq ft
  • Finish: steel trowel, ready for coating
  • Mix: 32 MPa air-entrained
  • On site: 2 to 3 days

Cracked, salt-damaged floors are broken out and repoured with a slope to the door. Typical range $10 to $15 per sq ft including removal. See garage floors and concrete pads.

Commercial

Commercial and Industrial Work

Our commercial projects are shaped as much by the client's operation as by the concrete. A plaza needs storefronts open, a warehouse needs trucks moving, and a condo board needs residents able to reach their doors, so each typical scope below lists the scheduling constraint that drives the plan.

New warehouse concrete floor slab project

Warehouse floor slab

  • Client: light-industrial owner or tenant fit-out
  • Size: 5,000 to 20,000 sq ft
  • Finish: power-trowelled, saw-cut grid
  • Constraint: pours sequenced around racking install

Slab thickness and joint spacing follow the forklift and racking loads in the specification. Typical range $11 to $18 per sq ft. See our warehouse and industrial concrete floors service.

Plaza sidewalk and barrier curb renewal

  • Client: property manager
  • Size: 150 to 600 linear ft of curb
  • Constraint: phased so every storefront stays open

Work runs in sections with barricades and signed detours. Typical ranges $14 to $22 per sq ft for walks and $45 to $85 per linear ft for curb. Our commercial sidewalks, curbs and parking areas page has the details.

Shop or showroom floor coating

  • Client: auto shop, showroom or storage unit
  • Size: 800 to 4,000 sq ft
  • Constraint: weekend install, back in service Monday

Diamond grinding, crack repair, then a flake or polyaspartic system. Typical range $8 to $12 per sq ft for polyaspartic. Options are on our polished concrete and epoxy floors page.

Repair

Repair, Levelling and Restoration Before-and-Afters

Most repair projects start with a symptom, such as a trip hazard, flaking surface or leaking crack, and end with a fix matched to the cause. The pair below shows a typical walkway lift: sunken slab first, the same type of walkway after foam lifting.

Sunken concrete walkway slab before levelling repair

Before: sunken walkway slab

Cause: fill beside the foundation settled and downspout water washed out the base, leaving a 2-inch lip at the joint.

Concrete walkway after slab levelling repair

After: slab lifted and joints sealed

Fix: polyurethane foam injected through small ports, lifted in increments, then ports patched and joints sealed. Typical cost $500 to $1,500 for most residential lifts. See concrete leveling and slab lifting.

Salt-scaled driveway

Cause: non-air-entrained mix and de-icers. Fix: resurfacing if the slab is sound, at $6 to $10 per sq ft, through our concrete repair and resurfacing service.

Leaking foundation crack

Cause: shrinkage or settlement cracking in the wall. Fix: injection from inside at $550 to $950 per foundation crack.

Faded, porous patio

Cause: sealer worn off after several winters. Fix: clean and reseal at $1.25 to $2.50 per sq ft with our concrete sealing service.
