Concrete Contractor in Woodstock, Ontario
Woodstock is the largest concrete market in Oxford County, and it keeps growing at both ends of the scale: new industrial buildings in the business parks along the 401, and new subdivisions filling in on the edges of the city. Concrete Surface Solutions builds for both, from warehouse slabs and loading aprons to exposed aggregate driveways and stamped patios.
Our team brings 20+ years of residential and commercial concrete experience and 950+ completed jobs to every Woodstock site. We carry a certificate of insurance you can request, WSIB coverage you can verify, and a written warranty on every new pour.

Overview
Concrete Services Throughout Woodstock
We cover all of Woodstock, from the business parks on the 401 to the newest streets on the north end, plus Innerkip, Eastwood, Embro and Hickson nearby. Woodstock is the Oxford County seat and sits beside the junction where Highway 403 splits from the 401, so trucks and crews reach most sites without crossing town.
On the commercial side, owners and builders hire us for warehouse and industrial concrete floors and commercial sidewalks, curbs and parking areas. Additions, garages and new buildings start with our concrete footings and foundation walls, poured to the 2024 Ontario Building Code minimum of 15 MPa or higher where the engineer calls for it.
For homes, the most requested finishes are an exposed aggregate driveway or walkway and a stamped concrete patio.
Residential work runs across the city: Victorian homes in the Old East End, family streets near Southside Park, Claysam Homes' Devonshire neighbourhoods, and the adult lifestyle community at the Village at Sally Creek. North of the city, lots near Pittock Conservation Area and the Thames sit in the watershed managed by the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority.
Villages such as Innerkip, Embro and Hickson are in the surrounding townships rather than the city, so their permits come from the township office instead of Woodstock City Hall. We sort out which office applies when we book the site visit.
Business parks
Commercial and Industrial Concrete in Woodstock's Business Parks
Woodstock's industrial growth is concentrated in four city-owned business parks, and most of our commercial pricing here is for buildings inside them. Toyota's RAV4 assembly plant on the city's northeast side is the best-known employer, and the manufacturing and logistics buildings around it need slabs, aprons and truck courts that hold up to constant traffic.
Pattullo Ridge
Business park at the Highway 59 and 401 interchange.
Bysham Park
Business community located off Highway 2.
CommerceWay
About 270 acres along the north side of Highway 401.
North East Business Park
Industrial lots close to the Toyota plant.
Larger Woodstock projects rarely pour all at once. We plan the concrete in phases that follow the building, so each trade gets a finished surface when it needs one:
- Submittals
Mix designs, reinforcement and joint layout reviewed against the engineer's drawings before the first pour.
- Footings and walls
Foundations formed and poured to drawings, then backfilled for the steel erector.
- Interior slab
Floor placed once the building is closed in, typically $11 to $18 per sq ft, with joints cut the same day.
- Site concrete
Dock aprons, sidewalks at $14 to $22 per sq ft and barrier curb at $45 to $85 per linear ft poured last.
Every exterior phase is poured to CSA A23.1 Class C-2: 32 MPa, 5 to 8% air entrainment, maximum 0.45 water-to-cementing-materials ratio, and new commercial concrete carries a 2-year written warranty.
New subdivisions
Driveways and Decorative Work in New Subdivisions
Homeowners in Woodstock's newer subdivisions usually call us to upgrade, not just replace: they want the builder's plain driveway swapped for exposed aggregate, or a bare backyard turned into a stamped patio. Both finishes need the same groundwork, so we rebuild the base with 150 to 200 mm (6 to 8 in.) of compacted Granular A before anything decorative goes on top.
Exposed aggregate driveways
The washed stone surface grips well and hides the salt film Woodstock's winter roads leave behind. Expect $16 to $21 per sq ft, with the driveway kept within the city's limit of 50 percent of the front yard.
Stamped patios and walks
Cobblestone, slate and ashlar patterns with a colour hardener and release tint. Stamped work typically runs $18 to $26 per sq ft. Resealing every 1 to 2 years at $1.75 to $3.00 per sq ft keeps the colour sharp.
Newer Woodstock lots come with an approved lot grading plan, so we keep driveway and patio elevations within it and slope water toward the swales the builder set. Raising a patio or widening a driveway without checking that plan is the quickest way to send meltwater toward a neighbour's yard or your own basement.
New residential work carries our 3-year written warranty. When a stamped surface starts to look dull, our concrete sealing service brings it back without a full replacement.
Permits
Building and Road Permits in Woodstock
The City of Woodstock issues its own permits, and building permit applications are accepted only through its Cloudpermit portal, not by email. The building department works out of City Hall at 500 Dundas Street, and the City of Woodstock building permits page lists what needs one.
| Your project | What Woodstock requires | Who applies |
|---|---|---|
| Wider driveway | Driveway Widening/Excavation Permit with a site drawing; Road Allowance Excavation Permit for work on city property; fee only if a curb cut is needed | We prepare the drawing with you |
| Garage, porch or deck | Building permit through Cloudpermit | Owner or designer, with our slab and footing details |
| Shed pad | Accessory structures of 108 sq ft or less do not need construction drawings | Owner |
| Pool deck | Swimming Pool Fence Enclosure Permit before the pool goes in | Owner or pool installer |
| Commercial building | Building permit plus the engineer's drawings | General contractor or owner |
Requirements summarized from the City of Woodstock in 2026. We confirm current rules for every address before quoting.
Two more checks apply on every job. We book free Ontario One Call locates before digging, and on lots near the Thames or Pittock Reservoir we check whether a UTRCA Section 28 permit applies.

FAQ
Woodstock Concrete FAQs
Woodstock clients range from logistics managers to first-time homeowners, so these answers cover both. Ask us anything specific to your site when we visit.
Do you have crews based near Woodstock?
No. Our crews and equipment leave from our yard on Consortium Court in south London, and Woodstock is about 35 minutes east on the 401. That is close enough for crews to be on site at the start of a normal working day.
We would rather tell you that plainly than list a local address we do not have.
Can you handle a multi-phase commercial project?
Yes. We break the concrete scope into phases (footings and foundations, interior slabs, then exterior aprons, curbs and sidewalks) and schedule each one around the general contractor's sequence and the other trades.
Each phase gets its own pour plan, batch tickets from the ready-mix supplier and a sign-off before we move on, and new commercial work carries a 2-year written warranty.
Do I need a permit to widen my driveway in Woodstock?
Yes. The City of Woodstock requires a Driveway Widening/Excavation Permit, with a drawing showing the existing driveway, the widening and nearby infrastructure such as trees, street lights and hydrants. Work on city property also needs a Road Allowance Excavation Permit.
There is no application fee, though a curb cut carries a fee the city discusses before approval.
Exposed aggregate or stamped: which suits a new Woodstock driveway?
For most driveways we recommend exposed aggregate. It hides tire marks and salt residue, gives good grip on the slope from the garage, and typically costs $16 to $21 per sq ft against $18 to $26 per sq ft for stamped.
Stamped concrete shines on patios and front walks, where it sees less salt and plows.
